REPORT CARDS & PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES

Report Cards are being distributed on Tuesday, June 26 during the homeroom period.

ALL FINANCIAL PAYMENTS – tuition and fees must be up to date before a report card is given.

If you have any questions about financial obligations, please call Sr. Placid, the Bursar at 718 447-4150 ext. 112.

1.     Marks are a composite of many criteria specific to each area.  Tangential learning experiences such as meeting deadlines; following directions; submitting readable material are also important.

2.           Learning within the group during regularly scheduled class periods, is the norm.  Frequent absences, even when excused and work is made up, will inevitably have an effect on grades.

The prime concern of both the teacher and the parent is the student’s welfare.  In an atmosphere of honest appraisal, positive recommendations to assist the student will be explored.

 SUMMER SCHOOL REGULATIONS:

Final Course Failures:

a)      A student who fails 1 or 2 subjects in June must pass the courses in summer school in order to be admitted to Villa in September.

b)      If a student fails 3 or more subjects in June, she will not be re-admitted the following September.  Every possible effort will be made in helping her transfer to a school that can meet her academic needs.

Failures in Regents:

a)      Failure in both the course and the Regents exam – The course must be retaken in summer school in order to earn course credit.  The
Regents must be retaken to remain in the Honors section or if it is a requirement for graduation.

b)      Pass the course with a grade lower than a 75 and fail the Regents exam – The student must attend the full summer school course and retake the Regents (to qualify for a Regents Diploma) in August.  Pass the course with a grade higher than a 75 and fail the Regents exam – The student must retake the Regents in August, preceded by a review class at an accredited school.

c)       Fail the course but pass the Regents exam – In accord with the policy of the NYS Board of Regents, passing the course is based on a number of criteria.  Therefore, passing the Regents exam does not automatically earn the student course credit.  The course must be taken in summer school.  **Please be aware that the Public Schools are not an option unless it is a course failure or required Regents and that government cut backs may also affect summer school.
